Which region are we covering ?
The Coteaux du Languedoc
region runs from Narbonne in the West to Nimes in the East, along the Mediterranean coast
and inland to the base of the Massif Central. It is an area of extreme natural beauty with
a surprising diversity of soils and micro-climates. The palette of wines produced is
also diverse with rosés, sweet and dry whites, and a broad selection of reds
ranging from light and fruity to full-bodied and spicy.
We have allocated each vineyard to a specific region, and we have
classified our wines according to their AOC (Appellation d'Origine Controle). This should help
you to define and refine your taste in the wines of the region, as for example, the coastal
region of La Clape (above) produces a different style
of wine to the 'little Siberia' corner of the
Terrasses du Larzac (right). Take a look at the map of
the Languedoc to locate where your favourite wines are grown, or click through to a description of each
specific region.
The Coteaux du Languedoc region includes four AOCs, each corresponding to a
geographic region with its own rules on the permitted grape varieties and vinification methods.

The AOCs:
AOC Coteaux du Languedoc, AOC Faugères
, AOC Saint Chinian
, AOC Clairette du Languedoc
The AOC Coteaux du Languedoc itself covers a broad geographical
area with a diversity of soil and climates, and moves are afoot to introduce
a further sub-classification of 7 climatic regions. This regional classification
does not yet appear on the wine label, but we believe that it is only
a matter of time before this happens. The La Clape
and Pic St-Loup regions already produce
according to specially defined criteria and wines from these regions will feature La Clape
or Pic St-Loup on the label. From the 2002 vintage onwards, this will also be the case for the
Grès de Montpellier.
The climatic regions:
La Clape et Quartouze, Terrasses de Beziers, Pezenas et Cabrieres,
Grès de Montpellier, Picpoul de Pinet,
Terrasses du Larzac,
Pic St-Loup,
Terre de Sommières
